“Pillars of Dust” a one-person exhibition of large-scale paintings and works on paper will be presented at the Heuser Art Center Gallery of Bradley University, Peoria, IL. The show opens September 28, 2018 and runs through November 6, 2018. The documentary film “Work at Hand” will be screened before the opening and Michael will also meet with graduate painting students during the day. Partially Funded by both the Illinois Arts Council and a Part-time Faculty Development Grant form Columbia College. I was both very surprised and humbled by the staff of the recently released Line Work 8 Box when I found a dedication in the form of a separate publication, Line Work 8.5. Here featured not only a very thoughtful tribute page to me a an instructor, but also my work on the front and back covers, a few of my drawings inside and most importantly the work from my Figure Drawing II class from which this whole issue sprang. What an honor to have know and worked with these young artist.

The website and trailer for the full broadcast length documentary film "Work At Hand Michael K. Paxton" in now online. The website was developed by Jeanne Nemcek and Christina Timmins and features not only the trailer for the film, but bios of the filmmakers Director Peter Hartel and Editor Libi Hake, along with production and post production stills and a contact page for comments and inquires.

The Art of The Eye Exhibition →
I am pleased to be included in the group exhibition The Art of The Eye that opens March 31st at the new Kenosha Creative Space, WI. I will be showing one of my newest works on paper that is based on a slide section of the effects of Black Lung on coal miners from my native West Virginia. Shown Round Drawing, 2018, 26" x 20", graphite,watercolor, acrylic and flashe on paper. Judged and Curated by Diane Levesque and Kristen Bartel, I also send a big thank you to David Jones and Marilyn Propp.
2017 ILLO Award
I am pleased and honored to have been awarded with the ILLO 2017 Faculty Member of the Year, by the Design Department, Illustration, Columbia College, Chicago. Pictured here is my wonderful Figure Drawing II students surrounding me holding the award. This award really belongs to all of them.
